I am very thankful that Andie was available not only as a doula but also for childbirth class. She was very knowledgeable and supportive and really helped guide my husband and I throughout my pregnancy and labor/delivery. We chose to have a home birth and Andie's support was a very large part of making that successful. With her help and our amazing midwife I was able to have the labor and delivery that I had always dreamed about. I can't recommend Andie highly enough and if I am ever blessed to have another child I will definitely be calling her. Crystal Barnhard

I could not have had such a wonderful, low intervention, natural birth without Andie! She recommended Dr. Baird, whom I ended up choosing for my prenatal care. Andie is also very willing to share all of her knowledge and experience whenever you have a question or concern. Not only was she my Doula, but we also took her childbirth classes and I learned SO MUCH and was very prepared for the birth of my son! I couldn't have done it without her!! I wasn't lucky enough to have Andie for my doula (she was already taken for that month!), but I was incredibly blessed to take her natural child birth education classes! I cannot tell you what kind of help this was for me and my husband! Without this class there is no way I would have managed any kind of a natural labor. The classes were interesting, enlightening, and also fun! My husband and I looked forward to going every week. I never realized how much I didn't know about having a baby. I could never have made any kind of informed choice about my labor and would have just been at the mercy of what the doctor told me to do. I am convinced that, without this class, I would have ended up with a cesarean birth (I just barely managed to avoid it with a natural labor) and could not be more grateful for the knowledge that Andie imparted to us! I feel so blessed to have found Andie for my VBAC. At the time, my husband had recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, and it was difficult for him just getting home. In my previous birth, my daughter turned breech and I had to have a scheduled cesarean at the last minute. I assumed that I was going to have to have repeat cesareans for the rest of my birthing years, until I researched alternative options and came across Andie and the Evansville Birth Network. I cannot tell you how helpful it was to have another woman who understood and could support me in my decision to attempt a VBAC when so many people tended to have a more negative and oppositional attitude towards it. It really gave me the confidence that I needed to allow my body to birth and have faith that my body was not broken and could do what was necessary without unnecessary intervention. I can't say enough about how thankful I am that Andie was present during my birth. In the early stages of my labor, while I was still laboring at home, I was able to keep in touch with Andie via phone and text to keep her updated on my symptoms and progress. As a first time mom, it helped me feel more confident knowing she was only a phone call away. During my labor she was very encouraging and supportive and also helped my husband feel like he was a very important part of the labor as well. She encouraged me to keep walking, helped find positions that were comfortable, and used techniques such as massage and heat therapy to help with my discomfort. She was also a huge encouragement to me during the delivery and even stayed awhile during my postpartum period to help me with breastfeeding. I am so glad I chose to have a doula at my birth and, as a result, I had the birth experience I had been hoping for. I would definitely recommend Andie to anyone looking for a doula. Leigha Pettigrew
