Intro to Baby Sign Language

Learn to communicate with your baby before they have the fine motor skills to form words.

  • 45 US dollars
  • Western Maine Play Museum

Service Description

Sometime around 9 months of age babies begin to learn that words have meaning. They begin to understand what you're saying to them, but the muscles in their faces and mouths aren't quite developed enough to say many words or phrases until closer to 18 months. However, the fine motor skills of the hands are able to communicate much earlier, and infants as young as 9 months can start using signs to communicate what they want or need. Using sign language with your baby can help reduce frustration, reduce negative behaviors, and actually increase their vocabulary and reading readiness down the road. *Class fee includes a take-home guide including over 50 signs.
